Our Response in Romania and Moldova

IBS-Southeastern Europe will engage Christian medical doctors in Romania to help complete a Romanian adaptation of the notes and other non-Scripture text in our English Reach 4 Life New Testament.

Then we will integrate our Romanian Reach 4 Life notes adapted for Southeastern Europe with our recently completed Romanian New Testament translation to publish a Romanian R4L New Testament. With the necessary funding, all work to adapt the notes, proofread and typeset the text, and then print 12,000 Romanian R4L New Testaments can be completed for distribution at the start of school in September 2005.

IBS and the Christian Medical Doctors Association in Romania will also develop a 30-minute presentation on biblical values, sexual promiscuity, and the risks of HIV/AIDS. This educational program will be an alternative to the current safe-sex course currently used. Trained volunteer teams from local churches in Romania and Moldova will present this program in public schools and then distribute R4L New Testaments to students.

Government officials, civic leaders, and public school administrators in Romania and Moldova favor a Christian alternative to the safe-sex education program currently taught in the schools. Efforts are underway to make a Christian values program such as R4L an alternative national program that school administrators may substitute or use in addition to existing programs. However, the governments would not fund the development or distribution of R4L New Testaments.
